The Twins have had some success mining the considerable talent in Puerto Rico over the years, drafting Eddie Rosario in 2010 and Jose Berrios in 2012. They got Miranda in the second round of the 2016 Draft and after struggling out of the gate, he went on to be an Appalachian League All-Star in 2017 and have a solid full-season debut last year, making it seem more likely that he will join his island-mates in Minnesota.

Miranda has one of the best pure swings in the organization with the chance to be a plus hitter down the line thanks to outstanding bat-to-ball skills and plate discipline from the right side of the plate. He rarely strikes out and can spray the ball to all fields. He’s shown more power than expected, with most of his over-the-fence damage coming to his pull side. He’s played mostly second and third, and should continue to see an even split between the two spots going forward, though the Twins got him a little time at shortstop in 2018, where his range is limited, but his hands and arm work fine.

Miranda’s tweener profile limits his ceiling a bit, and he might be a utilityman when all is said and done as a result. But if his bat keeps progressing, he could hit his way into a regular spot in a big league lineup.
